Dazzling NASA Video of the Transit of Venus

The Transit of Venus is one of the rarest of events that can be predicted by astronomers. It takes place when the planet Venus passes directly between the Sun and the Earth, so that it can be seen silhouetted against the disk of the Sun. The entire transit lasted 6 hours and 40 minutes, and this video speeds up and compresses the transit to a matter of seconds.  The video below shows the Transit of Venus that occurred on June 5 and 6, 2012—the last Transit of Venus in our lifetime.
